Phil Ouellette starts his eighth year as an assistant for the Owls. Prior to Oregon Tech, Ouellette was an assistant coach at North Medford High School in 2006 and assisted at Klamath Union High School in 2007.

As a player, Ouellette excelled in both football and baseball at North Medford High School where he helped lead his teams to state championship appearances in both sports. The 2001 graduate was a two time all conference and all state selection in baseball as an outfielder and gathered all conference and all state honors in football as a running back his senior year. Ouellette was also a state-metro all-star selection and was chosen as the offensive MVP of the annual Oregon vs. Washington all-star series his senior year. Ouellette was a three year starter for the Medford Mustangs American Legion program, where he still currently holds the record for career triples. As a college player, Ouellette helped lead the 2004 Lane Titans to a NWAACC championship, receiving all southern region honors in the process. He finished his playing days at Oregon Tech in 2007, where he led the Owls in runs, triples, and walks.
