KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech had No. 12-ranked Lewis-Clark State on the ropes, but the Warriors rallied behind 20 kills from Taylor Boyce, completing a reverse sweep, topping the Lady Owls 15-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-18, 15-10 at Danny Miles Court.
LC (7-1, 1-1 CCC) used an 8-2 run in the deciding set to complete the win, including back-to-back combo-blocks from Addison Wilson and Jordynn Albright to break open a 6-5 lead.
The Lady Owls (7-3, 1-1), looking for their first win of the year against a Top-25 team, got big performances up-and-down their line-up, but could not overcome 37 attack errors.
Tech dominated Set 1, combining for five aces in the period, including four aces in an 8-point run on the serve of
Sumerlyn Spencer. OIT continued the surge in Set 2, opening a 15-8 lead, but the Warriors answered with a 14-6 run to take a late lead. The Owls outlasted the visitors, getting late kills from
Taryn Ramsay,
Shalyn Bliss and
Kaliko Schilling to pull out the set win.
The momentum turned in Set 3 and continued in Set 4 – as LC scored eight points in a row, including two Makenzie Stout aces and consecutive Mikale Roy kills to take a 11-5 lead and eased to the win for force Set 4. Boyce took over from there, powering home four kills in a 12-1 run by the Warriors that broke an 11-11 tie, sending the two sides to the deciding set.
Bliss finished with 13 kills, with
Tiffini Goss posting 13 kills, seven digs and six blocks for the Owls.
Aleksen Thayer had 10 kills and five blocks, Schilling had 10 kills, with Ramsay recording a career-best eight kills, along with 50 assists and nine digs. Libero
Kaley Whalen finished with a season-high 34 digs.
Roy added 13 kills for LC, with the Warriors ending the night with 13 team blocks.
The win snapped a 6-game win streak for the Lady Owls, who head off on their first conference road swing, with matches at Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho.
