Lady Owls Fall to Top-Ranked Eastern

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon showed why they are ranked No. 1 in the NAIA coaches poll, using a .349 hitting percentage and 13 aces to stop Oregon Tech, 25-11, 25-19, 25-10, inside Quinn Coliseum.

Long scoring runs in Set 1 and Set 3 were the key for the Mountaineers (15-0, 4-0 CCC), who remained unbeaten on the season.

Tiffini Goss led the Lady Owls (7-5, 1-3) with nine kills and Taryn Ramsay had 22 aces, as Tech is in the midst of four-straight games against Top-25 teams.

Tech led 6-5 in the opening set, but EOU scored 15 of the next 16 points, getting three kills from Keira Vaughn and three aces from Ava Semprimoznik to control the period.

The Lady Owls hung around in Set 2, closing the gap to 16-14 on an Aleksen Thayer kill, but were unable to cut further in the lead.

Set 3 was a clone of the opening frame, as three-straight Brooke Womack aces pushed the Mounties to a 16-4 run that secured the victory.

Womack led all players with 13 kills and Vaughn added 11 for the victors.

OIT returns home next week, hosting No. 18 Southern Oregon on Thursday and Warner Pacific on Friday – with both matches starting at 6 p.m.
