KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Dominant starting pitching from seniors
Landon Cheney and Garson Glavich set the table for the Oregon Tech offense, as the Hustlin' Owls opened a weekend series at Steen Sports Park with a doubleheader sweep of Eastern Oregon.
Cheney threw a complete-game 4-hitter in a 12-2 win in the opener, while Glavich fanned eight in seven strong innings, as the Owls (15-17, 8-12 CCC) rallied to win Game 2, 2-1.
In Game 1, the Mountaineers (8-20, 5-14) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first on doubles from Jace Nagler and Andrew Demianew – but were limited to just two hits the rest of the way.
Tech got even in the third – thanks to a 2-out EOU error, a passed ball and a Jojo Roman RBI single. An inning later,
Jacob Cook walked and scored on a
Aiden Corkery triple, while in the fifth,
Andrew Sharp smashed a long home run over the right field wall.
The Owls put the game away late – batting around for five runs in the sixth, including RBI singles from Roman and Sharp and a
Michael O'Daniel RBI double – adding a
Nick Gimino 2-run single in the seventh and an eighth inning walk-off 2-run blast off the bat of
Logan Macy.
Cheney threw a career-best eight innings and struck out a career-high eight. Five OIT players – Roman, Sharp, Macy, Corkery and Gimino – each had two hits, while Cook scored three runs.
The nightcap was a pitcher's duel between Glavich and EOU's Jace Schow – as the Mounties lone run came in the first after Demianew reached on a sun-aided double and scored on an Alex Olague single. OIT tied the game at 1-1 in the third, as Gimino singled and scored on a Sharp single.
Eastern had chances but ran themselves out of three-straight innings – as a caught stealing, an appeal on a tag up and a runner thrown out by 15 feet at third ended the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.
Tech used one swing to take the lead, as O'Daniel smashed a seventh inning 1-out solo homer to left, giving the Owls the lead.
Caleb Randolph did the rest, getting the final six outs for his second save of 2026. His work gave Glavich his second win of the year, as the lefty worked around six hits and struck out a season-high eight batters.
Schow took the loss, despite limiting OIT to six hits in six-plus innings. Olague had a 3-hit game for EOU.
The two teams close out the series tomorrow with an 11 a.m. doubleheader.
