Lady Owls Dominate Day 1 of Simpson Spring Invite

REDDING, Calif. – Oregon Tech dominated Round 1 of the Simpson Spring Invitational, as all seven Lady Owls sit in the Top-10 of the 36-hole event at Riverview Country Club.

OIT (314) holds a commanding 24-stroke lead on Simpson and Bushnell, who each carded team scores of 338, with Southern Oregon (345) a distant fourth.

Baylee Hodgman is the leader in the clubhouse after an opening round 77, one stroke ahead of teammate Madison Dick (78), with both Kali Rowe and Sydney Dick in a 4-way tie for third after shooting 79.

"It was a solid performance by the women today" said head coach Dave Myers. "It is great to have everyone in the Top-10 after Day 1 and it will be exciting to see how things unfold tomorrow with so many players close to the lead."

Madie Hepner is in eighth-place, but just three shots back after carding an 80, with Alyssa Kauleinamoku four shots off the pace following an 81. Brittney Barrington is tenth after a Day 1 85.

The teams close out tournament play tomorrow with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
