KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –
Nita Cook had a 5-hit day and
Addison Kachnik drove in six runs, as Oregon Tech completed a 4-game sweep of rival College of Idaho with 17-9 and 10-2 run-rule victories at Stilwell Stadium.
The No. 10-ranked Lady Owls (16-2, 3-0 CCC) ran their win streak to eight by posting 43 runs in the weekend series.
Gina Allen started Game 1 with a bang, launching a leadoff homer in the first, but the Yotes (11-7, 0-3) bats came to play – building a 7-1 lead in the third. Kamryn Ham hit a 3-run homer in a 5-run second for C of I and Kina Watts added a 2-run shot in the third.
Tech answered with an offensive onslaught, piecing together a 3-run rally in the third, before batting around for six runs in the fourth. Kachnik had a 2-run single,
Jazmine Macias singled home a run,
Malia Mick walked with the bases loaded and
Leah Huffman gave the Owls a 10-8 lead with a go-ahead 2-run single.
Kachnik doubled home a run in a 5-run fifth that extended the lead to 15-8, with the Owls ending the game in the sixth after consecutive RBI singles from Mick and Huffman.
Alli Parker recorded her third-straight win in the series, striking out six in four-plus innings of work. Six different OIT hitters had two hits – Cook, Kachnik, Macias, Huffman,
Sawyer Stenson and
Brooklyn Loose.
Watts, Madelyn Powell and Kate Crosby had two hits for C of I.
Game 2 wasn't as close, as Tech took a 6-0 lead after two innings. Kachnik gapped a 2-run double in a 3-run first and
Puakea Milbourne doubled the lead in the second with a long 3-run homer.
OIT ended the game in the fifth, as Cook doubled in a run, Milbourne had an RBI single and Stenson closed out the win with a bases loaded hit by pitch.
Jenna Gorden went the distance, allowing two runs on six hits for her fourth win. Cook was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and Milbourne was 2-for-3 with four RBI.
The Owls hit the road next weekend for a 4-game series at Simpson.
