SALEM, Ore. –
Avery Andrews scored a career-high 18 points and
Jozie Ramos surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her Oregon Tech career, but it wasn't enough for the Lady Owls, as Corban knocked down 11 3-point baskets in an 87-71 victory in the semifinals of the Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank.
Corban (25-5) will advance to meet Lewis-Clark State in the title game on Monday night.
The No. 20-ranked Warriors used a 12-3 first quarter run, getting two 3-point plays from Jersey Huerta, to take a 19-9 lead – extending the margin to 41-26 at the break.
OIT (19-11) could never mount a rally, as the hosts connected on six of their first seven 3-pointers in the third quarter, methodically extending their lead to 76-49, completing a season sweep of the Owls.
Andrews was outstanding off the bench for Tech, scoring 14 of her 18 points in the second half, finishing 7-of-11 from the field.
Tatum Schmerbach had 18 in the loss, her 36th-straight double-digit scoring game, tying Carmen Morgan for No. 2 on the OIT all-time list.
Jozie Ramos became the 15th Lady Owl to surpass 1,000 points for a career, hitting the milestone on the opening basket of the game, finishing with 15 points and six rebounds. Teammate
Olivia Sprague surged past 1,700 points in her record-setting career with a third quarter 3-pointer.
Huerta led all players with 29 points, with Tori Younker and Kylie Ihrig each scoring 11.
The Lady Owls will have to wait five days to see their postseason fate, as the 64-team field for the NAIA Championships will be unveiled Thursday at 5 p.m.
