KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech seniors
Olivia Sprague,
Chelsea Ching and
Ebony McMillan celebrated their final home regular-season game in style, as the Lady Owls for the ninth time in 10 games, dominating Warner Pacific, 98-48, at Danny Miles Court.
Sophomore
Avery Andrews led Tech (18-8, 14-4 CCC) with 17 points and 10 rebounds – both career highs, as the Lady Owls kept their Cascade Conference regular-season title hopes alive.
Sprague finished with 12 points, six rebounds and five assists, while McMillan scored a career-high 11 and Ching added nine points in their first collegiate starts.
The Owls blitzed WPU (10-14, 6-11) throughout, as
Tatum Schmerbach scored twice inside and Sprague canned a corner 3-pointer in a 13-3 run in the opening quarter to give the hosts a 23-10 lead. Ching and McMillan got into the act in the second quarter, draining consecutive 3-pointers, part of a 16-3 run, extending the lead to 41-17, with a Ching lay-up just before the final buzzer capping a 10-point push to give Tech a 53-22 halftime lead.
The rout continued in the second half, as
Jozie Ramos scored five-straight points to fuel a 17-2 run that gave the hosts an 85-42 fourth quarter edge.
OIT made 55% of their field goals, held a 46-26 rebound edge, while scoring 26 points off 21 Knights turnovers.
Schmerbach scored 17 points – her 32nd-straight double-digit scoring game – with Ramos adding 12. All 11 OIT players in uniform had at least one point and one rebound in the win.
Klamath Union product Shielteal Watah led WPU with 17 points in the loss.
OIT closes out the regular-season next weekend with road dates at College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon – with the Owls clinching at least a share of the CCC crown with a sweep.
