KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech completed their first weekend sweep of the Cascade Conference campaign, using a season-high 63 kills to topple Northwest University 20-25, 25-11, 25-22, 25-17, at Danny Miles Court.
Kaliko Schilling had a match-high 14 kills and Larryn-Alexis Joseph-Rodrigues had a season-high 12 kills and four blocks, as the Lady Owls (10-8, 4-6 CCC) finished the first half of conference play alone in seventh place.
After the Eagles (6-13, 2-8) used four blocks in a Set 1 victory, the Owls used a dominant serving run from
Alison Miller to even the match. Leading 11-10, an
Alexa Gugliotta kill gave OIT a side-out, with Miller leading Tech to 11-straight points – including three kills from
Shalyn Bliss and two each from Gugliotta and Joseph-Rodrigues – to put the frame away.
NU answered in Set 3, as a Chloe Kennedy kill gave the Eagles a 16-10 lead, but Miller did it once more, scoring eight consecutive points on her serve, helped by three Joseph-Rodrigues kills and consecutive tandem blocks from Joseph-Rodrigues and Gugliotta, giving the Owls the lead. Up 23-22, Gugliotta and Schilling powered home kills to end the set.
Brooklynn Thesenvitz had her chance for a rally in Set 4, recording a pair of aces in a 7-0 run to erase a 5-2 deficit, with the lead ballooning to 17-9 on a Miller ace, as Tech completed the match win.
Gugliotta had nine kills,
Aleksen Thayer added seven kills and five blocks, with
Taryn Ramsay finishing with six kills, 52 assists and nine digs. Libero
Kaley Whalen had 26 digs, Miller had two aces and a season-high 18 digs, with Thesenvitz leading all players with five aces.
Both Haylee Koetje and Jaelyn Moeva had eight kills to lead NU.
Tech hits the road for the next four matches, beginning next Friday at Lewis-Clark State.
