Lady Owls and Carroll Play to 1-1 Draw

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech snapped a three-match scoreless drought with a first half goal, but a late Carroll College finish off a set-piece sent the Lady Owls and Fightin' Saints to a 1-1 draw at the OIT Soccer Field.

Carroll (2-2-6, 1-0-4 CCC) had a 17-5 edge in total shots, but Tech keeper Elle Hillar stopped the first seven shots on frame through 75 minutes.

The Lady Owls (4-5-1, 1-3-1) ended a 325-minute stretch without a goal in the 40th minute with a pretty combination. Ryane Mattox made a run down the right side and played a ball into the box, where Ramera Bradley touched a pass to Rhacelyn Respicio who redirected the ball to an open Kaelyn Jaentsch and the sophomore finished for the 1-0 lead.

Tech nearly made it 2-0 just five minutes into the second half, as Mattox got behind the Saints defense, but keeper Maria Ackerman stopped the senior in a 1-on-1 chance. It was the Owls final shot on goal.

The Saints got the equalizer with 10 minutes left in the match, as following an OIT foul just outside the area, Erin Coulter played a ball to the top of the six, finding an unmarked Gabrielle Lougen, who headed home the volley.

Neither team had a quality chance the rest of the way to grab a lead.

The physical match ended with 28 fouls and four cards.

OIT hits the road next weekend with a Saturday date at the University of Providence.
