BREMERTON, Wash. – The Oregon Tech women's golf team destroyed their 54-hole team scoring record, closing out the Gold Mountain Invitational with a third-place finish amongst a high-caliber field on the west side of Puget Sound.
The Lady Owls (292-289-299 – 880) posted their third-straight sub-300 score, getting a big effort from sophomore
Kali Rowe in the final round to take third overall. Tech was overtaken by a pair of Canadian schools – UBC-Okanagan (293-289-291 – 873) and No. 1 ranked British Columbia (301-288-285 – 874) – who posted the two best team scores of the day. No. 12 ranked OIT finished ahead of No. 13 ranked LC State (300-288-301 – 889) and No. 11 ranked OUAZ (303-295-294 – 892).
Rowe (75-81-74 – 230) finished 26th overall, but had the Lady Owls best score of Day 2 with a 2-over-par 74.
Madison Dick (70-72-75 – 217) finished third overall, becoming the third Lady Owl to finish a 54-hole tournament at 1-over-par or better. UBC-O's Julia Alexander Carew (67-72-66 – 205) blitzed the field at 11-under-par, including a 6-under-par final round.
"Hard to complain about our finish for our women's team," said head coach
Dave Myers. "It was great to see Kali put up a score. Very solid play today, we just got caught by a pair of high quality UBC teams. I feel like it was a good finish for our fall season."
Tech had three others in the Top-20 –
Sydney Dick (73-73-75 – 221) in eighth,
Madie Hepner (74-73-75 – 222) in 11th, with
Alyssa Kauleinamoku (77-71-75 – 223) taking 14th.
