Lady Owls in Striking Distance After Round 1 at Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Brittney Barrington shot a career-best 2-over-par 74, keeping Oregon Tech close in a tight race after Round 1 of the Walla Walla Invitational at Wine Valley Golf Club.

The first Cascade Conference event of the new season saw defending champ, British Columbia, shoot a 7-over-par 295 – eight strokes ahead of Lewis-Clark State (303) and 10 strokes clear of the Lady Owls (305) heading into tomorrow's final round.

Barrington had an eventful trip around the par-72 track, carding three birdies and five bogeys – trailing only leader Keira Hou (69) of UBC, Jane Barry (72) of LC State and Reece Garey (72) of College of Idaho.

Madison Dick (75) is six strokes off the lead after shooting 3-over-par, with Madie Hepner and Alysaa Kauleinamoka each carding 77s. Sydney Dick had a first round 79, with Kali Rowe finishing with an 81.

Day 2 of the tournament is set for a Tuesday shotgun start at 9 a.m.
