KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –
Claire Cowan tucked home a cross from
Sydney Soskis in the 76th minute, rallying Oregon Tech to a 2-1 victory over Northwest in the Cascade Conference women's soccer opener for both teams.
The Lady Owls (5-1-1, 1-0 CCC) won for the third-straight time, scoring a pair of goals in the final 35 minutes after the visitors took a lead.
NU (4-3, 0-1) had the run of play in the first half and took advantage of a poor clearance early in the second half, as Megan Hurley jumped on a loose ball 25-yards from goal, made two defenders miss and hit a looping shot into the upper left corner of the net.
The deficit was a wake-up call for Tech, as the Owls needed just six minutes to earn the equalizer. Following a clearance from a free kick,
Jaylee Curran played a low ball into the 18, with
Chloe Cook getting a foot on the pass, striking the ball into the right corner of the net.
OIT took the lead with 14 minutes to play, as Soskis made a run down the right side, playing a cross inside the 6-yard-box – with Cowan flicking home the winner.
Tech finished with a 15-9 edge in shots, with both teams recording three corner kicks.
The Owls return to action tomorrow, hosting Evergreen at 12 p.m.
