Owls Extend Win Streak to 11, Sweep Twinbill vs. Corban

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech combined to score 29 runs in a pair of run-rule victories, as the Hustlin' Owls tied their all-time win streak record with 14-3 and 15-5 victories over Corban at Steen Sports Park.

OIT (31-11, 22-9 CCC) moved to 20-games over the .500 mark for the first-time ever, extending their win streak to 11 – equaling the record set in 2009 – while pushing their home win streak to a school-record 13 games. The Owls have scored 9-or-more runs in all 11 wins in their current streak, including 10-or-more runs in each of their last six contests.

Tyler Horner reached base in 7-of-8 plate appearances on the day and Matthew Ortiz had four hits and five runs scored in the two wins for the Owls.

Tech jumped out to a 14-0 lead in Game 1 and cruised to the victory behind six strong innings from Tim Williams, who earned his sixth win of 2025. The righty allowed one earned run on four hits, striking out six.

The Owls capitalized on three walks and an error in the first inning to plate three, while scoring four runs in both the second and third frames. Ortiz lined a 2-run single in the second and a RBI single in the third, with Logan Macy adding a run scoring single in the second and a 2-run double in the third.

Corban had a chance in their third, putting runners at 1st-and-3rd with no outs, but Fran Gross lined into a rare triple play, as Korrey Siracusa caught a line drive – threw to first to double off a runner, with Tech catching the runner at third well off the base.

Ortiz was 4-for-4 in the win, scoring four runs, Patrick Barry was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored, with Horner, Macy and Ka'ala Tam posting two hits.

Both Lucas Mertlich and Noah Owens had two hits for the Warriors (12-32, 7-24), but 10 walks from three Corban pitchers hurt the visitors cause.

Corban took a 1-0 lead in Game 2 on an Isaac Bateman sacrifice fly, but OIT answered by sending 12 batters to the plate, scoring eight runs. Horner and Jones hit back-to-back doubles to tie the game, Dane Bradshaw lined a 2-run double, both Ty Blakely and Barry had run scoring hits and Horner capping the inning with a 2-run, sun-aided double.

The Owls extended the lead to 11-1 in the second, as Bradshaw lined an RBI single and Blakely followed with a 2-run single, with Barry making it 15-3 in the fourth with a 2-run triple.

Corban had a 12-11 edge in hits – but OIT starter Landon Cheney limited the damage, surrendering five runs in five innings for his fifth win.

Bradshaw, Barry, Horner and Blakely each had two hits and three RBI in the victory. Joshua Miyazawa and Ryan Clay had three hits in the loss for the Warriors.

The two teams close out the 4-game series on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
