KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Nita Cook had a five-hit day, Jayce Seavert had three doubles and Jenna Gorden tossed a one-hit shutout, as Oregon Tech ran their win streak to 11 with 10-2 and 8-0 run-rule victories over Carroll College at Stilwell Stadium.
 
The No. 2-ranked Lady Owls (36-6, 19-4 CCC) used a 16-hit attack in the Game 1 win, while riding the gem in the circle from Gorden in the nightcap – helping Tech equal their longest win streak of the season.
 
Carroll (15-19, 10-11) opened the scoring in the opener, as Kenna Thomas doubled home Elizabeth Ybarra – who led the game off with a single. The Fighting Saints were limited to just two hits the rest of the way by OIT starter Kacie Schmidt, who picked up her 19th win of the year.
 
The Owls tied the game in the second on a Gina Allen RBI single, followed by a go-ahead 2-run double from Cook. An inning later, Jazmine Macias reached on a grounder deep in the hole on the right side, plating two runs to extend the margin to 5-2.
 
Puakea Milbourne doubled home two runs and Marla Goodspeed added an RBI single in the fourth, with Addison Kachnik ending the game with a sixth inning sacrifice fly.
 
Cook, Milbourne and Goodspeed each finished 3-for-4 in the win.
 
Game 2 belonged to Gorden, who was one-strike away from a no-hitter – before Sammie Labrum hit a seeing-eye single up the middle. The right-hander got a ground out to end the game – striking out five batters in her first career shutout.
 
Tech built a 5-0 lead after two innings – getting a Milbourne 2-run single and a Kachnik 2-run triple in the opening frame, with Seavert driving in a run on a second inning fielders choice. Seavert added the big blow in a 3-run fourth, lining a 2-run double.
 
Cook and Allen were both 2-for-3 in the Game 2 win.
 
The two teams close out the series tomorrow with a 12 p.m. doubleheader – with OIT honoring their senior class of Schmidt, Seavert, Goodspeed and Zoe Allen following the games.
