OPPONENT PREVIEW – SOUTHERN OREGON: Two weeks later than scheduled, OIT and Southern Oregon meet for the 253rd time on the hardwood, as the Owls square off against a Raiders (17-8, 12-7 CCC) team that had a 5-game win streak snapped Saturday at LC State. SOU can score the basketball, making 10 3-pointers a game and averaging 82 points a night, while ranking among the league leaders in rebound margin (+8.1). A deep roster is paced by guard Elijah Jackson (13.8 ppg, 3.0 apg), with forwards Bryce Dyer (10.8 ppg, 9.4 rpg), Gabe Reichle (10.4 ppg, 2.5 rpg) and Mason Whittaker (9.1 ppg, 3.2 rpg) key at both ends of the floor. Tech has won 4-straight in Ashland and 14-of-16 overall, holding a 165-87 all-time series lead, including December's 97-94 double-overtime win in the Basin.

OPPONENT PREVIEW – MULTNOMAH: Friday could be the final meeting all-time between Tech and Multnomah, as the Portland school will shutter their athletic program at the end of the academic year. The Lions (16-9, 12-8) have not faltered despite the news, recording a school-record for wins behind an offense averaging 84 points a game, while averaging over five rebounds more than their opponents. Four players for Nomah average in double-figures – guards Kadeem Nelson (12.5 ppg, 3.7 rpg) and Marje Windfield (12.4 ppg, 3.0 rpg) and forwards Keilan Torkonoo (16.4 ppg, 7.6 rpg) and Noah McCord (12.3 ppg, 8.9 rpg). OIT won the first meeting, 76-70, improving to 28-1 all-time against the Lions.

OPPONENT PREVIEW – WARNER PACIFIC: The regular-season ends against a short-handed Warner Pacific squad, as the Knights (11-14, 6-14) have lost 5-of-6 games without their top-two scorers – Matt Solomon (14.9 ppg) and Tre'von Cason (14.0 ppg). WPU averages 70 points a night and converts 41.9% of their field goals behind the play of Terrin Dickey (11.2 ppg, 6.3 rpg), Sean Johnson (9.9 ppg, 5.2 rpg) and Jurrien Sparks (9.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg). The Owls have won the past three meetings, including a 64-56 decision last month in Portland, with Tech holding a 71-26 all-time series lead.

TECH CLINCHES HOME PLAYOFF GAME: With their win over Corban on Feb. 7, the Hustlin' Owls clinched a bid to the Cascade Conference Championships – their 31st-straight postseason appearance and the 50th time OIT will appear in the playoffs. Tech is a combined 103-60 in postseason games, including a 40-24 mark in the CCC Championships – winning the tournament title in 2000, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2024. The Owls will host a quarterfinal game on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m.

PLAYOFF PICTURE: College of Idaho has clinched the CCC regular-season title, with OIT and LC State battling for the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds in the CCC Tournament. With the two teams splitting the regular-season series, if the clubs finish tied, the top tiebreaks are record vs. teams .500-or-better in league play and record vs. teams in the standings in descending order. Four teams – Southern, Eastern, Corban and Multnomah – are separated by one game for the No. 4 through No. 7 spots, while Bushnell can clinch the No. 8 seed with a win or a Warner Pacific loss.

POLL POSITION: The Owls remained at No. 24 in the latest NAIA Top-25 Poll, released on Feb. 12. Three opponents' are in the ranking – No. 3 College of Idaho and No. 5 Arizona Christian, with LC State receiving votes. Tech ranks No. 6 in the recent NAIA West ARC rating, with the squad No. 31 in the NAIA RPI.

20-WIN SEASONS: OIT heads on the road trip with an 19-6 record – searching for their 39th 20-win season in the 77-year history of the program. One win would secure head coach
Justin Parnell his seventh 20-win season in nine years at the helm.

SPLIT ON THE ROAD: It was an up-and-down road trip, with Tech dropping a tight game at LC State, before recording a key victory at Walla Walla. The Owls made 34-of-42 free throws in the two games and combined for 19 more rebounds than the opponents, but allowed the two teams to combine to make 54.6% of their field goals.

100-POINT GAMES: Tech scored 109 points in their win at Walla Walla, the fourth 100-point game by the Owls this season. It was the 199th all-time 100-point game (the first a 110-62 victory over Eastern Oregon in 1957 – starting a streak of 66 wins when scoring 100 that lasted 33 years), with holding a 189-10 record when breaking the century mark – including 29-straight wins.

OSBORN DOMINATES TRIP: The Owls attack was led by senior
Kam Osborn, who recorded a career-high 29 points in Friday's loss at LC State, followed by a 25-point first half at Walla Walla. Osborn made 17-of-31 field goals on the trip, including 11-of-18 shots from 3-point range and converting all nine of his free throws.

Erik Fraser and
Jamison Guerra recorded double-digit scoring games in both games of the road trip. Fraser had 10 points vs. LC State and 14 points at Walla Walla – making 10-of-18 field goal attempts, while running a string of double-digit scoring games to 4-straight. Guerra scored 11 points in both games – moving past the 1,300-point mark for his career.

SEASON-HIGHS: The Owls got season-high performances from
Dakota Reber and
Jared Sucher in Saturday's win at Walla Walla. Reber scored 17 points and nine rebounds, making 7-of-9 field goal attempts, with Sucher scoring 12 points with four rebounds – knocking down both 3-point attempts.

In the NAIA ranks, OIT is ahead of College of Idaho (1,326), Carroll (856), LC State (739) and Evangel (643), while overall in the Northwest, the Owls are No. 8 among all teams (Boise State – 10,597, Oregon - 7,057, Washington – 6,841, Gonzaga – 6,644, Oregon State – 3,888, Washington State – 3,644, Idaho – 1,766, OIT – 1,552, Eastern Washington – 1,487, Idaho State – 1,364). CLOSING IN ON 800 HOME WINS: Since OIT moved to their current campus in 1964, the Hustlin' Owls have had a decisive home floor advantage inside the Athletic Center – winning over 81-percent of their home games. Over the last 61 seasons Tech has played on what is now known as Danny Miles Court, the Owls hold a 796-181 overall record in the building – including an 109-21 mark under current head coach
Justin Parnell – four wins away from 800. OIT has recorded a winning record in 57-of-59 seasons (going 5-7 in 1965-66 and 1-8 in 1970-71), including undefeated records four times (1986-87, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11). OVER 1,000-STRAIGHT GAMES WITH A 3-POINTER: The 3-point shot has been key to the Hustlin' Owls success over the years, with Tech extending their string of games with a made 3-pointer to 1,040. OIT last failed to make a 3-pointer on Dec. 4, 1992, at Humboldt State, going 0-for-7 from outside the arch. During the current streak, the Owls made one 3-pointer in a game on five occasions. UNLV (1,255) and Duke (1,250) hold the current 3-point streak record, just ahead of CCC rivals Corban (1,223) and College of Idaho (1,189), along with East Tennessee State (1,185).
