LEWISTON, Idaho – Oregon Tech's
Kam Osborn scored a career-high 29 points, but a 13-2 second run by Lewis-Clark State was the difference, as the Warriors outlasted the Hustlin' Owls, 87-80, at P1FCU Activity Center.
LC (19-6, 14-5 CCC) moved within a half-game of Tech in the league standings – finishing the night making 55.7% of their field goal attempts.
After a back-and-forth first half where each team led by as many as five points – the Hustlin Owls (18-6, 14-4) took a 43-41 lead on a reverse lay-up by
Erik Fraser with 18:28 left in the contest. The hosts answered in a big way – as Alton Hamilton scored on 3-straight possessions, McCarhy Morris converted on the block and Taden King canned a long 3-pointer – as the lead grew to 54-45 in the span of two minutes.
Osborn gave Tech a chance, hitting a step-back 3-pointer to cut the margin to 82-76 and used a 4-point play with 2:33 remaining to get the visitors within 84-80. The Owls got 3-straight defensive stops in the next 90 seconds, but were unable to score on the offensive end – as a steal and basket from Gorden Boykins sealing the LC victory.
Hamilton scored 22 points with 14 rebounds for the Warriors, with John Lustig scoring 20, King posting 15 and Morris adding 14.
Osborn made 6-of-9 3-point chances in the loss, with
