Lady Owls Open CCC Play With 73-32 Win Over Evergreen

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech turned 23 turnovers by a short-handed Evergreen State College team into 32 points, as the No. 21-ranked Lady Owls opened up Cascade Conference play with a dominating 73-32 victory

OIT (5-4, 1-0 CCC) held the Geoducks to 25% shooting on the night, as the 32 points surrendered by the Lady Owls was the fewest by the club since the 2015-16 season.

Brooke Anderson paced the attack with 14 points and four steals – spearheading a pair of big runs in the opening half that blew the game wide open.

After TESC (0-2, 0-1) scored the first two points of the game, Tech scored the next 15 points – getting buckets by Kendall Fealey, Jozie Ramos and Anderson, with Olivia Sprague canning a triple in the flurry.

Bayleigh Harder pulled the visitors within 15-11 with a 3-pointer and hit another with six minutes left in the half to cut the margin to 25-17. But the Geoducks did not score for the rest of the period. Tech rattled off 16-straight points, getting six points from Tatum Schmerbach and four from Anderson, taking a 41-17 lead to the break.

The OIT defense did the rest – as the Geoducks finished 0-for-12 from 3-point range in the second half – with the Lady Owls holding the Washington school to 15 second half points.

Schmerbach had 12 points, six rebounds and five assists, Fealey scored 10, Ramos added eight points and 13 rebounds, with reserve post Maddie Eischen scoring seven points with six rebounds.

Harder and Jenna Glenzel each scored 13 for Evergreen, but the rest of the 7-player lineup combining to make 3-of-23 field goal chances.

The Lady Owls close out weekend play tomorrow at 3 p.m., hosting Northwest University.
