Schmerbach Double-Double Leads Lady Owls Past Bushnell

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Tatum Schmerbach recorded her second-straight double-double, as Oregon Tech extended their win streak to four, as the No. 20-ranked Lady Owls topped Bushnell, 71-45, at Danny Miles Court on Military/First Responder Appreciation Night.

Schmerbach scored 17 points – the 17th-straight game the junior has scored 10-or-more points – adding 10 rebounds, as OIT (7-4, 3-0 CCC) improved to 4-0 at home this season and remained tied with Southern Oregon and Eastern Oregon atop the league standings.

The Beacons (2-9, 0-3) kept the game tight through one quarter, trailing just 14-12 after 10 minutes. From there, Schmerbach took over – as the guard scored twice on the block, hit a 15-foot jumper and added a steal and basket – part of a 12-0 Lady Owls run to open the second period, adding a late jumper to extend the margin to 38-21 just before the break.

Tech turned to their defense in the second half, holding Bushnell to a 25% shooting clip, while using a 53-35 edge on the glass to their advantage.

Olivia Sprague scored 11 points with seven rebounds, with Kendall Fealey and Avery Andrews each scoring 10 in the win. Andrews added six rebounds, with reserve forward Maddie Eischen recording a season-high seven boards.

Ayden Krupke led the Beacons with 17 points.

OIT closes out the 2025 portion of their schedule tomorrow afternoon, hosting No. 18-ranked Corban at 3 p.m. – live on 104.3/960 Sports.
