Hustlin' Owls Win Third-Straight, Stop Bushnell 79-63

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore – Dakota Reber recorded his third-straight double-double, scoring 20 points and adding a career-high 15 rebounds, as No. 20-ranked Oregon Tech remained tied atop the Cascade Conference standings with a 79-63 victory over Bushnell at Danny Miles Court.

The Hustlin' Owls (8-3, 3-0 CCC) held Bushnell 18 points below their season average, limiting the Beacons to 5-of-32 shooting from 3-point range – while holding a commanding 54-26 rebound margin.

Reber became the first OIT player with 3-straight games with 20-or-more points since Mitchell Fink achieved the mark in the 2019-20 season.

The Beacons (5-5, 2-1), riding a 3-game win streak, scored 8-straight points in the first four minutes – with a Kaleb Burnett lay-up giving the visitors an 8-2 lead.

Tech answered with their defense – holding Bushnell without a made field goal for eight minutes – with Reber jumpstarting the Owls rally. The senior turned an offensive rebound into a basket to start the run, followed with a dunk and a lay-up – ending with back-to-back Jared Sucher buckets – as the 21-2 surge gave the hosts a 23-10 lead.

OIT led 38-29 at the break and extended the margin to 47-32 on an Owen Nathan 3-point play. The Beacons answered with consecutive Squeeky Johnson 3-pointers, part of a 10-0 run that got the visitors back in the game – pulling within 54-50 on a Cory Johnson put-back basket.

The Owls proved to be too much, as Jackson Cooper rattled home a short jumper, Grant Tull canned a 3-pointer off an offensive rebound, both Reber and Sucher converted second-chance points and Reber splashed a corner triple to close a 13-2 run that put the game out of reach.

Cooper had 18 points, six rebounds and six assists in the win, with Garrett Osborne recording career-highs of 11 points and five rebounds. Nathan had a career-high 10 points and seven rebounds, with Sucher ending the night with six points and seven boards.

Burnett had 15 points and Cory Johnson scored 13 in the loss for Bushnell.

OIT closes out their 4-game homestand tomorrow with a 5 p.m. match-up vs. Corban.
