SALEM, Ore. – Junior middle blocker
Aleksen Thayer recorded six blocks on the night, establishing a new Oregon Tech career blocks record, as the Lady Owls closed out the season with a 4-set loss at No. 5-ranked Corban.
The Warriors (23-4, 17-3 CCC) claimed the No. 2-seed in the Cascade Conference Tournament with the 25-16, 20-25, 25-14, 25-14 win.
Despite the loss, the night belonged to Thayer, who had one solo block and five block assists – pushing her career total to 339, one more than
Kate Hicks during her career from 2021-24.
After Corban claimed a Set 1 win, the Owls (12-15, 6-14) used a 5-0 run, helped by two
Alison Miller aces, to break an 11-11 tie. A third ace from
Sumerlyn Spencer extended the Owls lead to 21-14 as the visitors evened the match.
Corban put an upset bid to rest, outscoring Tech 10-2 to end Set 3 and 9-2 to end Set 4 to close the match.
Playing in their final collegiate matches,
Willow Jacobson had 11 kills and six digs, with
Savanna Sterck adding eight kills and four blocks, with
Abigail Sorensen leading the team with 12 digs.
Emma Bischoff led the Warriors with 16 kills and 13 digs, as Corban held a 57-35 edge in kills.
