KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –
Dakota Reber scored a season-high 20 points, helping Oregon Tech improve to 47-0 all-time against Simpson University, rolling to a 100-85 victory over the Redhawks at Danny Miles Court.
The Hustlin' Owls (4-2) made 55% of their field goal attempts in the victory, including a season-high 11 3-pointers. Tech held a commanding 42-21 rebound edge, including a 16-3 margin in offensive boards – turning into 20 second chance points.
OIT never trailed on the night, as Reber scored 12 of Tech's first 16 points, with a thunderous
Gylan Payne dunk capping a 10-2 run to give the Owls a 26-11 lead. The lead extended to 42-24 following a Reber dunk in traffic, with the hosts taking a 44-29 lead to the break.
The 3-ball took over after halftime, as triples from
Sean Chris Tresvant,
Jared Sucher and
James Kefgen keyed an 11-2 run that pushed the lead to 66-38, with a 3-point play from
Owen Nathan extending the lead to 87-57.
Sucher scored 15 points in the win, with Payne adding 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals.
Jackson Cooper posted 10 points, five rebounds and six assists, while Nathan scored a career-high seven points with four assists and
Mason Bierbrauer had career-highs with five points and three rebounds.
The Redhawks (2-5) closed the game on a 19-4 run over the final five minutes to cut the OIT lead in half – thanks to 19 points from Nian Allen and 15 points from Timothy Parker.
Tech has the weekend off, preparing for a trip to California for the Hope International Thanksgiving Classic – playing games Monday and Tuesday in Fullerton.
