CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon Tech's Jamison Guerra will serve as the Cascade Collegiate Conference's national representative to the NAIA's Association of Student-Athletes (ASA).
"Jamison will be an excellent representative for the conference on the NAIA-ASA committee," stated Commissioner Robert Cashell. "His passion for working on behalf of everyone will no doubt be an asset as he engages in national issues affecting all student-athletes."
Guerra, a senior guard on the Hustlin' Owls basketball team, earned All-CCC and third-team NAIA All-America honors in leading Tech to the CCC Tournament title. He has served on the CCC ASA for the past two years in the Vice-Chair role with new positions being announced in September. Last season, the applied psychology major was selected to the CCC All-Academic Team and a NAIA Scholar-Athlete.
"I am thrilled for Jamison to be honored as the CCC representative on the NAIA ASA," commented Justin Parnell, OIT men's basketball head coach. "Jamison is not only a great student, basketball player and leader but is a first-class individual. He is not afraid to speak his mind and is a very critical thinker which will be an outstanding addition to the organizations."
The objectives of NAIA-ASA involve acting as the advocate for all NAIA student-athletes within the NAIA's governance structure, providing members with the chance to enhance their leadership abilities while advocating for and empowering all NAIA student-athletes.
"I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to represent the CCC, as well as have the chance to make a positive impact on the NAIA-ASA," Guerra said. "This is something I'm very passionate about and I can't wait to get started."
