Lady Owls Win Streak at 16, Complete Sweep of Corban

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A morning snowstorm could not stop an Oregon Tech win streak, as the No. 5-ranked Lady Owls completed a 4-game sweep of Corban with 13-0 and 10-2 run-rule wins at frigid Stilwell Stadium.

Following an hour delay due to the winter blast, the OIT (24-6, 13-2 CCC) recorded 27 hits in the twinball, extending their win streak to 16 games – improving to 11-0 at home in 2024.

The Lady Owls dominated Game 1 – using a 6-run second inning to take a 7-0 lead. Nita Cook doubled home a pair, Kaila Mick followed with a 2-run triple, with Puakea Milbourne and Jayce Seavert each lining RBI singles.

The lead grew to 13-0 in the fourth – on the strength of 2-run doubles from Mckenzie Staub and Cook.

Kacie Schmidt tossed a 2-hit shutout, her second of the weekend, striking out seven. Cook was 3-for-4 with four RBI, both Zoe Allen and Mick each had three hits in the victory.

The Warriors (1-31, 0-15) took their first lead of the series in Game 2, scoring two first inning runs – one on an OIT error and another on a Sarah Parker RBI double.

Tech's offense returned the favor in the bottom of the inning, as a Seavert RBI double got the Owls even.

Milbourne took over from there – hitting a 2-run third inning homer, adding a fourth inning 2-run blast – with Mick lining a walk-off RBI single in the fifth to cap the non-conference win.

Staub earned the victory, striking out eight in the complete game effort. Milbourne was 2-for-3 with five RBI and Mick added three RBI in the victory.

OIT closes out the homestand on Tuesday, hosting Simpson in a 2 p.m. doubleheader, before hitting the road to Canada for a key 4-game series at British Columbia.
