PORTLAND, Ore. –
Jay Elmore and
Erik Fraser combined for 10 3-point field goals and
Kody Bauman added a career-high 19 points, as Oregon Tech kept pace with the Cascade Conference leaders following a 111-86 victory at Warner Pacific.
The No. 23-ranked Hustlin' Owls (17-4, 12-3 CCC) made 15-of-25 3-pointers in the win – the fifth time in program history Tech has converted 15 3's in a game at a 60-percent or better clip. Six players scored in double-figures in the road victory.
After combining for two ties and six lead changes in the first seven minutes – Bauman caught fire, scoring six-straight points, followed by triples from Elmore and Fraser, giving the Owls a 23-16 lead. OIT would rattle off 11-straight points moments later, getting two treys from Elmore and another from
Keegan Shivers – extending the edge to 34-18.
The Knights (2-20, 0-16) clawed within 60-54 early in the second half behind 11-straight Mark Wishom points, part of a career-high 23 from the senior. OIT answered with a 30-11 blitz, as Fraser scored 11 points and Elmore added a pair of triples in the run.
Elmore scored a season-high 20 points, making 6-of-9 from 3-point range, with Fraser going 4-for-5 from outside the arc, scoring 20. Bauman was 8-of-11 from the floor, while freshman forward
Jackson Cooper scoring 11 points with 13 rebounds. Shivers and
Blake Jensen each had 11 points in the victory.
OIT ended the night 61-percent from the floor (42-of-69) and had a 41-21 rebound edge.
Maxwell Moses scored 18 points and Matt Solomon had 16 in the loss, as WPU dropped their 20th-straight game.
Tech returns home for five of their final seven games, starting Tuesday night, hosting Southern Oregon at 7:30 p.m.
