EUGENE, Ore. –
Olivia Sprague scored 17 points and added nine rebounds, with the three Oregon Tech freshmen combining for 32 points, helping the Lady Owls complete a road sweep in the Willamette Valley, topping Bushnell, 67-57, in the Morse Event Center.
No. 25-ranked OIT (23-3, 17-3 CCC) won for the fourth-straight time, converting 51-percent of their field goals on the afternoon – including a 9-for-12 shooting performance in the fourth quarter.
The Beacons (15-11, 11-9) held a 5-point lead early in the second quarter and led 24-23 after an Aspen Slifka jumper in the lane, but Tech allowed just one field goal over the final six minutes of the half – closing the period on an 11-2 run.
Jozie Ramos started the run with a lay-up,
Kennedy Tull added two buckets, with Sprague canning a long 3-pointer and a transition jumper to help the Lady Owls to a 34-26 lead at the break.
Tech extended the margin to 47-34 late in the third quarter on back-to-back baskets from
Kayley Elliott, with a Sprague lay-up early in the fourth quarter pushing the lead to 58-43.
The OIT freshmen were the key – as
Tatum Schmerbach scored 13 points with five assists, Ramos added 10 points and four rebounds off the bench and
Kendall Fealey scored nine. The Owls benefited from a 37-23 rebound edge in picking up their fifth-straight win over BU.
Slifka, playing in her final home game at BU, scored 14 points in the loss.
The Lady Owls return home for a Top-25 match-up on Friday morning, hosting No. 6-ranked Lewis-Clark State. Tip-off for K-12 Field Trip Day is set for 11 a.m.
