KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech opened a four-game homestand in style, as
Kam Osborn led six players in double-figures with a game-high 19 points as the Hustlin' Owls won their 24th-straight home opener, rolling past Cal Maritime, 99-80, at Danny Miles Court.
No. 16-ranked OIT (2-1) never trailed on the night, taking a 17-2 lead just five minutes in. Osborn hit a pair of 3-pointers in the flurry, along with a driving lay-up, with
Blake Jensen adding a dunk and a tough put-back basket.
The Owls lead grew to 47-21 late in the period on a
Grant Tull lay-in, but the Keelhaulers (1-1), who scored 135 points in their opening win on Thursday, battled back. Deandre Minor converted a driving basket midway through the second half to cut the margin to 69-56 – but Tech countered with an 11-1 run of their own – including a
Dakota Reber 3-point play and a transition lay-up by
Keegan Shivers, to ice the victory.
The hosts converted 61-percent of their field goal chances and held a 40-29 edge in rebounds. OIT posted 29 assists on 38 made field goals.
Jensen recorded 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting in the win, with
Jamison Guerra finishing with 12 points and eight assists. Reber scored 12 off the bench, Shivers added 11, with
Jackson Cooper filling the stat sheet with 10 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Alex Maze led CMA with 12 points, with Jamal Frenchwood scoring all 11 of his points in the second half.
OIT continues the homestand next week – hosting the Lithia Classic, welcoming Southern Oregon, Linfield and Arizona Christian to the Basin.
