KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech combined for 14 aces and eight blocks and held Warner Pacific to a negative attack percentage, running their home win streak to five with a 25-16, 25-20, 25-7 victory at Danny Miles Court.
The Lady Owls (16-11, 9-10 CCC) can clinch a spot in the Cascade Conference Championships with a victory in one of their last three matches or a loss by Northwest University.
Tech used a 6-0 run in Set 1, including two aces from senior
Kennedy Kantola, to open a 9-3 lead.
Savanna Sterck added a kick and block in a 7-1 surge later in the period to extend the margin to 24-13 in the opening win.
Set 2 featured 13 ties and eight lead changes – with the Knights (2-19, 2-17) getting kills from Maryann Tulele and Ellianna McMoore to take a 20-18 lead. A call reversal by the officiating crew negated a WPU kill, giving Tech a side out – which the hosts capitalized on. Kills from Sterck and
Tiana Barrett gave the Owls the lead, with Barrett and
Lex Boccia combining on a block and
Lucy Boyd adding an ace, part of a 7-point run to close the set.
OIT dominated Set 3, as
Kaley Whalen posted two aces in an opening 9-2 run, with
Molly Grace adding two aces and
Kate Hicks adding a kill and ace in a 12-1 push that broke the period wide open.
Sterck led the Owls with nine kills and three blocks, Hicks added six kills and five blocks, with Boyd posting 18 assists, six digs and a career-high six aces.
Elizabeth Reid led WPU with seven kills – but the Knights had 19 kills as a team, but 26 hitting errors.
OIT close out the home regular-season schedule tomorrow at 4 p.m., hosting Multnomah – the final home regular-season match for the 2024 senior class – Hicks, Grace, Kantola and
Paige Tevelde.
