OPPONENT PREVIEW – EVERGREEN STATE: Tech takes the road show to Washington, set for a Friday date in Olympia against Evergreen State, a Geoducks (3-8-3, 2-6-2 CCC) team that has won 3-of-5. TESC scored nine goals last week in a win over Walla Walla, but have mustered just nine goals in their remaining 13 matches, with opponents holding a 234-95 shot advantage. The offense is led by Peyton Rhyne (7 goals, 3 assists), Brieanna Dell (4 goals, 1 assist), Alexandra Foley (2 goals, 1 assist) and Danean Wurlitzer (4 assists), with Anna Varela (2.21 GAA) the Geoducks top keeper. OIT takes a 7-match win streak against TESC into the contest, with the Owls holding a 16-9-1 all-time series advantage.
 
OPPONENT PREVIEW – NORTHWEST: The regular-season ends in Kirkland against Northwest University, facing an Eagles (5-2-4, 4-2-4) team that has played the fewest number of games this season (13) – instead playing six scrimmages. NU won the CCC crown in 2022 and advanced to the title game in 2023 – qualifying for consecutive NAIA Tournaments, but the 2024 side has allowed as many goals (16) as they've scored (16). Pacing the Eagles attack are Rachel Russell (4 goals, 2 assists), Talia Hurst (2 goals, 1 assist), Jordan Cagle (2 goals, 1 assist) and Laura Rice (1 goal), with Katie Snow (1.31 GAA) playing the bulk of the minutes in goal. It is the 24th meeting, with OIT holding a 12-10-1 series edge – including a current 8-match unbeaten streak against NU.
 
PACK THE SPIKES: For just the third and fourth time this season, the Lady Owls will play on a grass field – as 14 of their 16 matches have been conducted on artificial surfaces. OIT is 1-1 in grass matches – winning at Hope International and dropping a decision at Rocky Mountain.
 
PLAYOFF BERTH CLINCHED: With the win over Southern Oregon, the Lady Owls clinched their eighth-straight postseason bid and the 14th playoff appearance in program history. It marks the 13th appearance in the CCC Championships, with OIT winning the 2021 title and reaching the final in 2006 and 2007. The Owls are a combined 10-12-4 all-time in the postseason, including a 5-9-3 in CCC Tournament play.
 
PLAYOFF PICTURE HEADING INTO FINAL WEEKEND: Tech is in prime position to secure the No. 2 or No. 3 seed in the CCC Championships, needing wins in Washington to accomplish the feat. The Lady Owls have a one-point lead on Carroll for second place and are two points clear of both Rocky Mountain and Eastern Oregon. A weekend sweep by OIT clinches the No. 2 seed, while a win guarantees no worse than the No. 4 seed in the tournament, as Carroll plays just one game this week. College of Idaho has clinched the regular-season title and first of two automatic bids to Nationals, while the second bid will be determined at the CCC Championships.
 
TOURNAMENT TO BE PLAYED CLOSE TO HOME: After a nine-year run in Springfield, the Cascade Conference Championships has changed venues – with the 8-team event heading to Medford and the Lithia & Driveway Fields Complex. Quarterfinal dates are set for Sunday, Nov. 10, semifinal games will be played Tuesday, Nov. 12, with the title game set for Thursday, Nov. 14. All CCC Tournament games will be streamed through Table Rock Sports.
 
WINNING RECORD: The Lady Owls enter weekend play with a 11-4-1 overall record, clinching a .500 or better record for the 15th time in 25 years. The win over Carroll secured Tech their 12th season with double-digit wins and the first since the 2021 season. OIT won 11 matches in 2018, 12 matches in 2007 and 2020, 13 matches in 2009 and 2019, along with a record 20 matches in 2021.
 
SUCCESS ON THE TURF: During the 25 seasons of women's soccer at OIT, the Lady Owls are 113-60-18 in matches played in Klamath Falls. Since the school installed turf at the on-campus venue in 2017, Tech has been nearly unbeatable, recording a 44-6-7 mark (.833 win percentage) – including a 6-2 mark in 2024.
 
RALLY FOR WIN OVER SOUTHERN: For the fourth time in 16 matches, the Lady Owls fell behind to start a contest – as Southern Oregon struck in the seventh minute of last Friday's rivalry game. However, OIT stayed the course, scoring three unanswered goals to grab the 3-1 victory, clinching a spot in the CCC Championships. Tech is now 2-2 this season when an opponent scores first, while the club earned their second-straight win over their closest rival (just the third time OIT has posted consecutive wins over SOU in program history).
 
SENIORS KEY: The 12 seniors on the 2024 OIT squad played their final home match against SOU, with the veteran players each contributing on each of the three goals scored. Shaynai Naputi got Tech even in the first half, making a long run down the right side, playing a perfect cross to fellow senior Kayla Ness in front of the goal for the tap-in. Minutes later, seniors Kiana Jacobson and Brianna Lewis worked a combination on the left side, with Lewis crossing a back post ball to junior Solei Elletson for the go-ahead score. Naputi added an insurance goal in the second half, running on a through-ball from sophomore Kaylie Hashizaki and finishing a 1-on-1 chance with the keeper.
 
THREE GOALS EQUAL A WIN: Friday's win over Southern Oregon was the sixth time in 2024 that the Owls have scored 3-or-more goals in a match – extending a streak of win when tallying a hat trick to 59-in-a-row – dating back to a 7-4 loss to Linfield on Sept. 3, 2011. OIT has scored 3-plus goals 116 times in program history, posting a stellar 112-4 all-time record in such games.
 
AROUND THE LEAGUE: Four teams will play just one match this week – as Rocky Mountain will face Senior Day at both Corban and Bushnell, with travel partners Providence and Carroll meeting in Helena. Along with OIT and Southern traveling to Evergreen State and Northwest, Multnomah and Warner Pacific close the season at College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon.
 
LEAGUE LEADERS: As a team OIT leads the CCC in shutouts (8) and fewest cautions (4), ranking No. 3 in assists per game (1.69) and goals against average (0.94), No. 4 in goals per game (2.12), No. 5 in shots per game (15.19) and No. 6 in fouls per game (7.62) and corner kicks per game (4.19). Individually, Brianna Lewis leads the league in assists (8), ranking No. 3 in shots (46), with Sydni Nakamura leading the league in shutouts (7) and is No. 3 in goals against average (0.96). Kiana Jacobson ranks No. 5 in points (19) and No. 7 in goals (8), with Sydney Soskis No. 7 in assists (4).
 
RECORD BOOK: Four players rank within the Top-20 of the OIT career record book. Keeper Sydni Nakamura is No. 3 all-time in shutouts (18), ranking No. 4 in goalie wins (24) and No. 6 saves (147), midfielder Brianna Lewis is No. 8 in assists (12), forward Kiah Wetzell sits at No. 15 in goals scored (14) and No. 16 in total points (34), while midfielder Kiana Jacobson ranks No. 17 in goals scored (13).
 
LOOKING AHEAD: The Lady Owls will have next week to prepare for the CCC Championships – which start Sunday in Medford – with the bracket and quarterfinal pairings released on Sunday night.
