KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Playing their first home game in 34 days, No. 24-ranked Oregon Tech left no doubt – sprinting to a 50-22 halftime lead in a convincing 89-41 win over Warner Pacific inside Danny Miles Court.
The Hustlin' Owls (10-2, 5-1 CCC) ran their win streak to four games by holding the Knights to 27-percent shooting – limiting the Rose City school to their lowest scoring performance in the series in nearly three decades.
"We did a great job setting the tone early," said guard
Kam Osborn. "We played at our tempo, ran the lanes and got transition buckets. It was great to get everyone extended playing time."
Mark Wishom hit an early 3-pointer to give the Knights (2-11, 0-7) their lone lead at 5-4, but OIT pushed the tempo, rattling off a 28-7 run over an 8-minute stretch, putting the game out of reach. Osborn and
Keegan Shivers canned 3's in the run,
Blake Jensen added a baseline dunk and
Jackson Cooper added a pair of baskets – part of a breakout night for the freshman.
The onslaught continued in the second half, as a Cooper lay-up extended the lead to 68-28 – as the Owls pushed the margin to as many as 50 - ending a 3-game losing streak to WPU.
Tech finished with a 52-28 edge on the glass, scoring 19 points of 15 offensive rebounds, while scoring 22 points off 14 WPU turnovers.
Shivers led OIT with 17 points, with Jensen scoring 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting. Cooper logged a double-double, posting career-highs with 15 points and 13 rebounds; Osborn had 13 points and
Jamison Guerra recorded eight points, eight assists and four steals.
The Owls held the CCC's leading scorer, Matt Solomon to just six points, with Darryl Brooks and Josiah Castillo tying Solomon for high-point honors.
OIT closes out the weekend tomorrow afternoon, hosting Multnomah at 5 p.m. – live on 92.5 KLAD-FM.
