PORTLAND, Ore. – Savannah Sterck powered home 16 kills and Oregon Tech recorded a season-high .345 hitting percentage, cruising past Warner Pacific inside C.C. Perry Gymnasium.
Â
The victory for the Lady Owls (5-8, 3-3 CCC) got the squad back to the .500 in league play, earning their third win in four outings.
Â
"The team played as one," said OIT head coachÂ
Alexis Garrison. "We started off consistent and it was nice to see them start off with a win on the road."
Â
Tech finished the night with 40 kills with only 11 hitting errors, adding nine aces – three each from
Kaley Whalen and
Willow Jacobson.
Â
OIT scored the first eight points of the match – including three kills from Sterck – and were never threatened by the host Knights (1-12, 1-5).
Â
WP kept Set 2 close early, as consecutive kills from Elizabeth Reid gave the Knights an 8-7 lead. Tech responded, as Sterck recorded four kills in a 15-3 run by the visitors to pull away.
Â
The Knights used a 6-0 run in Set 3 to take their biggest lead of the night at 7-4. After OIT regained the lead, a Reid kill got WP within 16-15, but a Sterck kill and a pair of Whalen aces turned the tide, as Tech completed the sweep.
Â
Jacobson had eight kills, with
Kate Hicks and Sterck each posting four blocks.
Brooke Cassidy led Tech with 21 assists and Whalen logged 15 digs.
Â
Reid recorded a team-high eight kills for the Knights and setter Kyla Reiling finished with 20 assists.
Â
OIT closes out the trip tomorrow with a match-up at Multnomah.
