Martinez Places 16th in Pole Vault at Nationals

Chris Martinez placed 16th overall in the pole vault to round out competition for the Oregon Tech track team at the 2023 NAIA Outdoor National Championships, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan.
Martinez cleared the opening height of 4.60 meters (15 feet, 1 inch) on his first attempt, but was unable to clear the next standard (4.70 meters) - finishing in a tie for 16th. Caleb Pouliot of The Master's won the event with a mark of 5.10 meters (16 feet, 8.75 inches).
The five men's and five women's athletes representing OIT will return to the Basin tomorrow.
