OFF TO LA GRANDE: The OIT track teams are headed to Banner Bank Track in La Grande for the 2023 Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank. A total of 19 student-athletes (10 women, nine men) will be in action at the two-day meet.
 
LAST SEASON: At last season's CCC Championships in Ashland, the Lady Owls earned 20.5 points, placing eighth, while the Hustlin' Owls earned 14 points and placed ninth. Tech had one conference champion – Alex Conley in the women's javelin – and one All-CCC performer (Top-3 finish), Thomas Dodgen in the decathlon.
 
POINTS IN THE BARN: Heading into the meet, OIT has four points in the women's standings, thanks to Ally Odell placing fifth in the heptathlon, with the men's team sitting with eight points, thanks to Eli Stevens taking second in the decathlon at the CCC Combined Events Championships.
 
CHANCE FOR A RECORD: Three-time defending CCC champion, Alex Conley, currently ranks No. 2 in the NAIA in the event and holds a 10-foot edge on her next closest CCC competitor heading into the meet. No athlete in the women's javelin has ever won four CCC titles – as OIT's Kasey Jones (2002-04) and Bushnell's Bailey Dell (2016-18) join Conley in the three title club.
 
TOP-8 MARKS: Seven women's athletes and six men's athletes currently rank among the Top-8 in the CCC – all in position to score at the league meet. For the women's team, Alex Conley holds the top javelin mark, Emily Bitler (discus) and Brittan Bratscher (javelin) sit at No. 4, Aarika Brooks is No. 5 in the javelin, with Ally Odell (100-meter hurdles, high jump), Eva Brady (400-meters) and Katie Mull (hammer throw) all No. 8. For the OIT men, Nick McMillen is No. 2 in the 10,000-meters and No. 8 in the 5,000-meters, Jonas Hartline is No. 3 in the 10,000-meters, Eli Stevens is No. 3 in the pole vault, Joseph Wilkinson is No. 6 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Owen Christiansen is No. 8 in the triple jump and Owen Lien is No. 8 in both the 400-meters and 400-meter hurdles.
 
OFF TO NATIONALS: Six OIT athletes have secured spots at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Marion, Ind., while two others are currently in position to qualify. Three javelin throwers – Alex Conley, Brittan Bratscher and Aarika Brooks – have hit the national marks, while distance runners Jonas Hartline and Nick McMillen have qualified in both the 5,000 and 10,000-meters, with Joseph Wilkinson qualifying in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. In addition, both Ally Odell and Eli Stevens currently since inside the Top-16 nationally in the multi-events – with the Top-16 athletes earned spots at Nationals.
