Schmidt and Mick Earn CCC Weekly Awards

CORVALLIS, Ore. - For the fourth time this season, the Oregon Tech softball team swept the weekly Rize Laboratory-Cascade Conference softball awards, announced by the league office.
Kacie Schmidt was named CCC Pitcher of the Week for a third time in 2023, with
Kaila Mick earning CCC Player of the Week honors.
Schmidt, a sophomore from Beaverton, had a perfect week in the circle, going 4-0 with a 0.93 ERA in four appearances. The right-hander tossed a three-hitter, striking out five, in a key 5-2 win at No. 4-ranked Southern Oregon to clinch the CCC regular-season title. She added three victories in the home series vs. British Columbia, including a 4-hit shutout in Game 1 of the series.
Mick, a junior from Klamath Falls, led the Lady Owls at the plate, going a combined 12-for-18, scoring six runs and adding five stolen bases. The shortstop hit a go-ahead home run in the conference title clinching win, part of a 5-for-7 doubleheader vs. SOU.
OIT softball players earned nine Player of the Week awards during the season.
Tech returns to action this Friday, hosting the Cascade Conference Championships - meeting either Eastern Oregon or British Columbia at 2 p.m.
