KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Kacie Schmidt fanned 10 batters in a come-from-behind Game 1 win and Mckenzie Staub tossed a complete game 5-hitter in the nightcap, as Oregon Tech extended their win streak to 20, sweeping No. 25-ranked Eastern Oregon at Stilwell Stadium.

The No. 1-ranked Lady Owls (32-5, 21-1) used a sixth inning rally to claim a 3-2 victory in the opener, while Tech pounded out 14 hits in a 7-1 win in Game 2. OIT tied a school record with their 20th victory in a row – equaling a mark first established in 2021 and 2022.

EOU (20-12, 11-8) took a 2-1 lead in the sixth on a solo home run from Gates Leatherwood, but the Owls answered in the bottom of the frame. Kaila Mick walked and scored the tying run on a Maggie Buckholz double. An out later, Puakea Milbourne lifted a sacrifice fly to score Buckholz with the winning run.

OIT struck first in the opening inning, as Zoe Allen reached on an error and scored on a Jayce Seavert single. The Mountaineers pulled even in the second, as Addison Ribordy singled and raced around on a Leatherwood double.

Schmidt worked around eight hits in picking up her league-leading 16th win – outdueling EOU's Kaylie Hoskins, who struck out 10 batters in the loss.  Buckholz and Lexi Klum each were 2-for-3 – with Klum tying a school record with her eighth triple of the season. Both Ribordy and Leatherwood were 2-for-3 for Eastern.

The Owls rallied again in Game 2, scoring the final seven runs of the contest. Ribordy put the Mounties on the board with a first inning RBI single, but Tech tied it in the bottom of the frame, as Allen singled and scored on a Klum base hit.

Tech took the lead in the third – stringing together three 2-out hits – an RBI double from Milbourne, a Staub RBI single and an Addison Kachnik RBI double.  Kachnik put the game out of reach in the fifth, belting her third home run of the year, a two-run shot to left.

Kachnik finished 3-for-4, with Buckholz, Klum and Nita Cook all recording multi-hit games. Staub struck out seven in earning her 15th win – retiring the final seven batters of the game in order.

The two teams close out the weekend series tomorrow with an 11 a.m. doubleheader.
