SALEM, Ore. –
Melissa Lee dominated both ends of the floor in a stat-sheet stuffing performance, helping Oregon Tech secure their 13th 20-win season in program history, rolling past Corban University, 66-34, inside the C.E. Jeffers Center.
Lee scored a game-high 17 points, adding eight rebounds, five blocked shots and four steals, as the Lady Owls (20-8, 16-6 CCC) reached the 20-win plateau for the first time since 2018-19.
Tech fell behind early, missing 15 of their first 18 shot attempts, as the Warriors (12-16, 9-13) took a 12-7 lead after the first quarter. The Owls found their rhythm late in the second quarter, as
Kayley Elliott canned a 3-pointer, Lee scored on a tough drive to the basket,
Alex Conley scored on a put-back and
Chelsea Ching converted a lay-up at the buzzer – all part of a 13-0 run to give the visitors a 30-17 lead at the half.
OIT put the game on ice in the second half, holding the Warriors to one made field goal over a nine- minute stretch, as Lee scored seven points in the 22-2 run – extending the lead to 66-31.
"As the game goes on, we continue to make adjustments and get better," said OIT assistant coach
Joy Lease. "We did a great job on the defensive end, making it difficult for Corban to get good looks and executed well on the offense end. And what can we say about Melissa – she has played her best basketball of the season when it truly matters."
Maddyson Tull scored 13 points and
Olivia Sprague added 12 in the win for Tech, as the Lady Owls turned 24 Corban turnovers into 23 points.
Maddie Godwin led the Warriors with 11 points – eight of the points coming in the first quarter Corban run. The hosts finished just 12-of-53 from the field, including 3-of-21 shooting from 3-point range.
The Lady Owls return home to open the Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, on Wednesday night, hosting Bushnell at 5:30 p.m. Season ticket holders will be able to purchase their seats beginning on Monday at 10 a.m. at the OIT Ticket Office inside the Athletic Center – with all tickets on sale Tuesday afternoon.
