MONMOUTH, Ore. – Playing their tenth exhibition game in program history, Oregon Tech got a 24-point effort from
Olivia Sprague, but a late fourth quarter rally by Western Oregon gave the Wolves a 68-65 win inside the New P.E. Building.
The Lady Owls (8-0) cut a WOU lead to 57-55 on an
Alexis Elquist jumper midway through the fourth quarter, but WOU answered with a layup from Cali McClave and following a defensive stop, Bella Pedrojetti canned a 3-pointer to close out the win.
OIT played the Wolves (5-4) even through the first quarter, using an 8-1 second quarter run – helped by a pair of buckets from Sprague – to take a 33-32 lead. The Owls led 41-40 in the third quarter, but closed the period missing their final 10 shots – as Western regained the lead for good.
Sprague drained three 3-pointers and finished 7-of-7 from the foul line in the contest. Elquist scored 12 points with a team-high nine rebounds, with
Gabbie Gascon adding nine points and five assists.
McClave led WOU with 18 points and seven rebounds, with Pedrojetti chipping in 17.
Tech returns to conference play next weekend, putting an 8-game win streak on the line with games in Washington against Northwest and Evergreen State.
