Lady Owls Move to 4-0, Win at Menlo 77-66

ATHERTON, Calif. – Facing their third-straight 2023 NAIA Tournament team, Olivia Sprague scored 25 points and both Kennedy Tull and Jozie Ramos scored 17, as the Lady Owls remained unbeaten with a 77-66 road victory at Menlo College.

Tech (4-0) connected on 53-percent of their field goals and used a 36-26 rebound edge in the win – scoring 26 points of 22 Menlo turnovers.

"It was a great lesson for us to come into a hostile environment, overcome some turnover issues in the second half and hold them off," said OIT head coach Joy Lease. "One of our keys before the game was controlling the boards and we did just that."

OIT trailed 18-12 after one quarter, but Sprague keyed a 10-3 run in the second quarter with 7-straight points to give the Lady Owls the lead, with the visitors taking a 39-33 edge to the break.

Sprague canned a triple midway through the third quarter to extend OIT's lead to 50-38, but the Oaks (3-2) answered, as a Kiara Brown lay-up with five minutes left in the game cut the margin to 64-58.

The Owls turned to Ramos, as the freshman converted a 3-point play and added a lay-up – pushing the margin back to double-digits – closing out the Tech win.

Sprague posted her third-straight game with 20-or-more points, adding seven rebounds and seven assists. Tull scored 13 of her 17 points in the first half, with Ramos' 17 points a career-high.

Tia Morgan led MC with 18 points, with the OIT defense limiting Brown, the Oaks leading scorer, to 11.

The Lady Owls close out their California road swing tomorrow with a 6 p.m. match-up at Cal Maritime.
