OLYMPIA, Wash. - On Monday, the Oregon Tech men's soccer team scored on a penalty kick with 20 seconds remaining to salvage at tie with Menlo. Today at Evergreen State, the Owls drew a foul in the box with just over a minute remaining, with
Brock Rideout converting from the spot to lift OIT to a 2-1 road win at Geoduck Pitch.
The win for the Owls (2-0-2, 1-0 CCC) extended their school record unbeaten streak to 18-in-a-row - rallying from a 1-0 second half deficit to pick up the victory.
"A big time win for us," said OIT head coach
Sean McManamon. "The boys persevered and got three big points on the road."
The host Geoducks (1-3, 0-1) took a one-goal lead into the break - despite a 9-4 OIT shot advantage - as Lucas Alcala scored off a Jax Buckley cross in the 24th minute.
OIT increased the offensive pressure in the second half, finally cracking TESC keeper Colin Hauser in the 68th minute, as
John Sarna played a ball to the top of the six, where Cade O"Neil flicked home the equalizer. Tech kept the attack on and earned the penalty kick with 68 seconds left after a Nico Cutlip foul in the box. Rideout converted from 12-yards out, securing three points for the visitors.
The Owls held a commanding 25-10 edge in total shots, with
Joel Witts making two saves to pick up his 19th career win - establishing a new OIT career record. Hauser made 10 saves in the loss for TESC.
Tech heads to Northwest for a Saturday showdown at 3 p.m.
