Ignacio Cracks 200-Foot Mark in Javelin at Titan Invite

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon Tech's Jose Ignacio became the fourth NAIA competitor this season to break the 200-foot mark in the javelin, picking up his second win of the season at today's Titan Invitational at Lane College.
 
Ignacio unleashed a throw of 61.25 meters (200 feet, 11 inches) in his first attempt – earning the win by over seven meters – improving his NAIA "A" qualifying mark.
 
"Tech athletes competed with heart and performed well throughout today's meet," said assistant coach Bill Reinhard.  "I am very happy with their performances."
 
Two other OIT athletes competed in field events – Owen Christiansen in the long jump (5.93 meters / 19 feet, 6.25 inches) and Thomas Dodgen in the discus (32.49 meters / 106 feet, 9 inches).
 
On the track, Owen Lien raced in both the 200-meters (23.58) and 400-meters (51.55); Chris Martinez (12.43) and Ace Jones (14.04) ran in the 100-meters, with Patrick Giraudo (23.42) running in the 200-meters.
 
The Owls returns to the track next Saturday at the Raider Invitational in Ashland.
