Dodgen in 2nd After Day 1 of the CCC Decathlon

Thomas Dodgen placed in the Top-3 in all five events on Day 1 of the decathlon, as the 2022 Cascade Conference Multi-Event Championships kicked off at Banner Bank Track.
The All-American recorded 3,437 points on the day, alone in second place in the 11-athlete field, as only T.J. Davis of Eastern Oregon sits in front of him with 3,802 points. Dodgen is well ahead of the third-place competitor, Judson Mansfield of Eastern Oregon (3,220).
"I was really pleased at how our multi-event athletes competed today," said OIT assistant Bill Rinehard. "I am excited to see how they compete in tomorrow's final day."
Dodgen opened the day placing second in the 100-meters (11.47 seconds) and followed it up with a big leap of 6.56 meters (21 feet, 6.25 inches) in the long jump, taking second. He took third in the shot put (11.20 meters, 36 feet, 9 inches) and the high jump (1.87 meters / 6 feet, 1 inch), before winning his section of the 400-meters (52.09 seconds).
The final five events of the decathlon (110-meter hurdles, discus, javelin, pole vault and 1,500-meters) will begin tomorrow at 11 a.m.
