Hustlin' Owls Complete Weekend Sweep of Saint Martin's

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech improved to 15-7 on the season with a sweep of NCAA Division II Saint Martin's University (5-12) 10-8, and 10-4 Sunday. The four-game sweep for Tech was their first since last season when they did it twice against Eastern Oregon University.

Following an impressive weekend of baseball, Tech HC Jacob Garsez said: "It was a good team weekend, with a lot of contributors. We responded to adversity well and continue to develop our identity as a team."

Game 3 – Oregon Tech 10 Saint Martin's 8

Looking to stay in the win column, the Hustlin' Owls won a scrappy game three over the Saints.

Saint Martin drew first blood in the top of the first when Renaud took Tech starter Jacob Miller yard.

After falling behind for only the second time all series, Tech responded in the bottom half as Brodie Marino tripled to right to score both Dalton Daily and Kaleb Keelean.

However, Tech's lead was short-lived.

Saints outfielder Griffin Williams came through for the road team with RBI singles in the second and fourth inning that put the visitors back in front.

Trailing 3-2, OIT exploded in the 5th, plating five runs highlighted by a Dalton Daily two-run blast.

But once again, in what proved to be a back-and-forth affair, Saint Martin's would come from behind to take the lead.

The Saints scored one in the 6th, three in the 7th, and one in the 8th to go back in front of the Owls, 8-7.

With a deficit heading into the bottom of the 8th, Tech would turn the tide one final time, scoring three runs to leave it late and win game three.

Brodie Maloney earned the decision on the hill for Tech, throwing 2.2 innings, allowing only one run on two hits, with two strikeouts.

Alcos was charged with the loss for the Saints in just a third of an inning of work.

Tech was led at the plate by Matthew Ortiz and Dalton Daily, who were both 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Game 4 – Oregon Tech 10 Saint Martin's 6

In game two, Tech jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.

The Hustlin' Owls scored ten runs for the fourth time in the series, totaling 40+ runs scored for OIT across the weekend.

Oregon Tech emptied their reserves in game four, getting nearly every player on the roster an at-bat.

It was a team effort in the series finale, as Tech totaled 11 hits, highlighted by another monster day at the plate from Dalton Daily.

Daily went 3-for-4 with a HR, five RBIs, and two runs scored.

Cody Dubray picked up his fourth victory of the season on the hill, throwing six solid innings of one-run and four-hit baseball.

Brendan Talonen relieved Dubray for the final three innings, allowing only one earned run on three hits.

McCormick was charged with the loss for the Saints allowing six runs on seven hits.

Tech will return to action next week when they host British Columbia at Steens Sports Park.
