Tech Wraps Up Paiute Battle With Top 5 Finish

                        LAS VEGAS, NV – The No. 22 Oregon Tech Women's Golf team concluded play at The Battle at Paiute, carding a final round 340 on to hold off Our Lady of the Lake and Victoria for fifth-place. 
Leading the Owls on the individual board was Ashley Zhu. Zhu sunk a team-high three birdies on Tuesday to match her first-round score. The senior shot a 10-over 72 in both rounds finishing in a tie for eighth place..
After finishing Round 1 in a tie for fifth, Maiya Baker ran into some trouble on the back nine. Baker shot a 17-over 89, which moved her down the leaderboard into a tie for 29th. 
Quincy Beyrouty was second on the team in birdies in round two, sinking two on holes two and eleven. The sophomore was able to shoot just about level with her opening-round score, which put in her a tie for 34th overall.
Madison Darnold was a major bright spot for Tech on Tuesday, moving 18 spots up the leaderboard. After struggling on Monday, Darnold improved her score by 11 strokes and was only one off of matching Zhu with a 10-over in round two. 
Payton Canon rounded out the field for Tech, improving her opening-round score by two strokes to finish in a tie for 49th place.
Oregon Tech returns to play on April 11th when they travel to Salem, Ore., for the Corban Invitational.
