LAS VEGAS, NV – The No. 22 Oregon Tech Women's Golf team finished 6th, in a field of 17 teams after Round 1 at The Paiute Battle. The Lady Owls sit just 12 strokes off the lead with 18 holes left to play in Las Vegas.

Through the first 18 holes, Ashley Zhu and Maiya Baker find themselves in a tie for 5th place. With a score of 10-over 72, Zhu and Baker sit only four strokes off of the lead with a round left to play.
Baker paced the Owls on Monday, sinking a team-high two birdies on holes three and seven.
Zhu added one birdie on four to help keep her in the top five.
Quincy Beyrouty sank an eagle on the second hole and a birdie on the third, but triple bogeys on holes one and ten pushed her down the leaderboard.
NAIA All-American Payton Canon finds herself in 47th place after a sextuple bogey on the first hole dented her first round at Paiute.
After the difficult start, Canon went par on seven holes to keep herself in the running.
Finally, Madison Darnold finds herself 16 strokes off of the lead with a round to play.
Oregon Tech returns to play tomorrow for another 18 holes of golf at the Paiute Golf Course.
