Hustlin' Owls Sweep EOU For 4-0 Start to CCC Play

KLAMATH FALLS, OR. – Oregon Tech (21-9, 4-0) rode solid pitching and clutch hitting from Tyler Horner to complete a four-game sweep over Eastern Oregon (7-22, 0-4). With the victory, the Hustlin' Owls extend their winning streak to 12 consecutive games over the Mountaineers.

Game Three: Oregon Tech 2 Eastern Oregon 1

In the opening game of Sunday's doubleheader, an early two-RBI single from Tyler Horner proved to be the deciding factor.

It was another pitcher's duel on Monday, as Tech was held to three hits but still pulled out the victory.

The Hustlin' Owls rode the clutch hit to a series-clinching win after Jacob Miller got a bounce-back outing on the mound.

Miller threw five innings for Tech, allowing one run on three hits while striking out five.

On the other side, Ben Bergonzine got the start for EOU, allowing two runs on three hits in three innings of work.

After Bergonzine's day was done, the Mountaineers put the ball in the hand of Nick Jennings, who had a career performance in relief.

Jennings didn't allow a single run or hit in five innings of work, which kept Tech off the scoreboard, giving his side a chance.

However, Brendan Talonen had something to say about that, using his own strong performance to slam the door on the visitors.

Talonen threw the final four innings, allowing no runs on just one hit to help clinch the series.

The Hustlin' Owls were led at the plate by Horner but also picked up hits from Ian Peters and Mitchel Swanson.

Game Four: Oregon Tech 6 Eastern Oregon 3

In game four, Tech rode the bat of Tyler Horner to another victory over the Mountaineers.

Horner was 2-for-3 at the plate in the series finale, totaling three RBIs, a walk, and a run scored.

The freshman from Twin Falls, Idaho, drew first blood for the Owls in the first, doubling to right field to plate Dalton Daily and Kaleb Keelean.

However, Horner wouldn't stop there, homering in his next at-bat to give Tech a 4-0 lead in the 3rd inning.

While Horner lit it up in the batter's box, Cody Dubray held it down on the hill for the Hustlin' Owls.

In five innings of work, Dubray picked up his 6th victory of the season, allowing only one run on two hits.

Dubray's solid outing allowed Tech to build a lead they'd never lose, allowing OIT to empty their bullpen and give some players some innings.

Alex Bratton, Spencer Dahlke, and Cruz Hamilton all came on in relief for Tech, allowing only two runs on three hits down the stretch.

In the 9th inning, Cruz Hamilton earned his first save, slamming the door on the Mountaineers, who were able to get the tying run to the plate.

OIT was led at the plate once again by Horner, but two hits from Mitchel Swanson also contributed to the Owls' success in game four.

The Hustlin' Owls will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Caldwell for a four-game series against the 'Yotes.
