With the opportunity to keep #10 The College of Idaho a game behind them in the CCC standings, Oregon Tech missed out on that chance in a loss to Corban on Saturday night.
In the first half, both sides went back-and-forth as it was Tech's three-point shooting that kept them within striking distance.
The Hustlin' Owls knocked down five triples in the first half, but the hosts outshot Tech 45% to 35% to grab a slim 33-30 lead at the break.
In the second half, the hosts caught fire, shooting at 54% to bury Tech's comeback attempt.
Corban built their lead to as large as 16 with six minutes left, making it nearly impossible for Tech to storm back.
With 1:44 remaining, Erik Fraser breathed life into his club with a three-pointer to cut the deficit to five, but his side couldn't get over the hump.
The Hustlin' Owls had one player in double figures on Saturday:
Kellen Gerig: 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting with eight rebounds
Corban University was led by Kendall Moore, who scored a game-high 21 points on 12-of-16 shooting from the free-throw line.
The Hustlin' Owls will return to action on Tuesday when they host Southern Oregon (13-11, 10-6) at 7:30pm.
On Tuesday night, it will be a "Pink-Out" to show that as an institution and as a community, we will continue our fight against breast cancer and cancer awareness. The first 1,000 fans will receive a commemorative pink t-shirt to wear during the game.
