KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The (RV) Oregon Tech Hustlin' Owls (21-10) suffered a stunning defeat at home 85-76 to Warner Pacific (15-16) Wednesday night at Danny Miles Court in the CCC Quarterfinals presented by U.S. Bank.
(7) Warner-Pacific University 85
(RV) (2) Oregon Tech 76
After dropping their season finale to Lewis-Clark State, Tech was looking to use their home-court advantage to make a run in the conference tournament.
The Owls came out on fire, jumping out to a 20-7 lead after hitting four three-pointers.
Unfortunately, after the hot start for the Owls, they ran into a brick wall in Warner Pacific on Wednesday.
The Knights hit tough shot after tough shot, denying Tech the opportunity to get over the hump and erase their second-half deficit.
The Hustlin' Owls registered four players in double figures on Wednesday:
Joey Potts: 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting with six rebounds
Scotty Burge: 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting with five assists
Kellen Gerig: 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting
Kaison Faust: 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting with four rebounds
Keegan Shivers also contributed well for the Owls scoring nine points and grabbing seven rebounds.
Thomas Miles led the Knights, who had 23 points (game-high) on 7-of-15 shooting with seven rebounds.
#7 seed Warner Pacific will now travel to Caldwell, Idaho to face #1 seeded College of Idaho this Saturday in the CCC Semifinals.
The Owls must now look to the remainder of the CCC tournament because if The College of Idaho wins the conference tournament, Tech will lock up a berth to the NAIA National Tournament after finishing second in the CCC regular season.
