No. 1 Lady Owls Cap Incredible Weekend With a Sweep in Rocklin

ROCKLIN, CA. – Oregon Tech (11-3) avenged two previous losses to William Jessup (8-6) by defeating them on Sunday to earn a weekend sweep of the Warriors. Paired with the victory over Jessup, Tech also grabbed another run-rule victory, 11-0, over Antelope Valley (2-11) on Saturday morning.

Game One:
#1 Oregon Tech 11
Antelope Valley 0

In the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader, Kacie Schmidt got her first career start in the circle for the Lady Owls.

Given that opportunity, Schmidt did not disappoint, holding Antelope Valley to no runs in four innings pitched.

While Schmidt held it down in the circle, Tech's offense exploded for 11 hits.

The offensive onslaught was highlighted by three RBI triples and two RBI doubles.

OIT scored runs in the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th inning before the run-rule intervened in the sixth.

After Schmidt was relieved of her duties, Jenna Gorden came in to throw a scoreless frame on just nine pitches.

The Lady Owls were led by Mckenzie Staub at the plate on Saturday. Staub went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Game Two:
#1 Oregon Tech 7
William Jessup 5

With the chance to avenge their opening week losses, Tech kept the bats hot, scoring seven runs on 14 hits.

The Lady Owls got started in the first inning when Kaila Mick crossed the plate on a wild pitch.

With the slim lead, the score would remain the same until the third.

In the third, Kaila Mick plated Lexi Klum with an RBI single; then Maggie Buckholz followed her up with an RBI double to put Tech up 3-0.

Leading 3-0, in the bottom of the third, a costly error from Kaila Mick allowed Jessup to pull two runs back.

With a slim lead, Tech plated runs in the 4th, 5th, and 6th to pull away from the Warriors.

The victory for Tech is their ninth straight as they've gained solid traction heading into CCC play next weekend.

Sarah Abramson grabbed the win in the circle for the Lady Owls, hurling seven complete innings, allowing four runs on five hits while walking two and striking out eight.

OIT was led at the plate by Kaila Mick, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored.

Tech will return to action next weekend when they host a four-game series against Northwest University (2-3) to begin CCC play.
