Sprague Sets School Record, Lady Owls Top C of I, 79-75

CALDWELL, Idaho – Olivia Sprague set an Oregon Tech school record by going 13-for-13 at the foul line, part of a 29-point effort, as the Lady Owls rallied for a 79-75 victory at College of Idaho inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

OIT (5-3, 1-1 CCC) rallied from a 12-point second quarter deficit, breaking a fourth quarter tie with a 10-0 run, keyed by a 3-pointer from Alexis Elquist and a 3-point play from Kennedy Tull, to earn the key road win.

"What a great effort tonight," said OIT assistant coach Joy Lease. "C of I shot the ball extremely well from the perimeter in the first half, but we stuck to our defensive game plan and got stops when we needed. This is a key road win in a tough conference."

Sprague became the seventh Lady Owl to make at least 10 free throws without a miss – surpassing the 12-for-12 nights from Carrie Thibault in 2012 and Brittany Cherry in 2010. The 13 made free throws rank No. 3 on the OIT all-time single-game list.

Tech trailed for the majority of the first three quarters – as Taryn Riley capped an 11-0 run spanning the first two quarters with a triple, giving the Yotes (5-3, 0-2) a 24-12 lead. C of I led 38-32 at the half on the strength of 11-of-22 shooting from beyond the 3-point line.

Trailing 40-32 in the third quarter, the Owls used a quick 7-0 run – getting baskets from Maddyson Tull and Elqust, followed by a Sprague 3-pointer – to pull within a point. OIT would force six ties until a Maddyson Tull lay-up with just under eight minutes remaining in the game gave the visitors a 60-58 lead. Elquist and Kennedy Tull followed with their key baskets, as the Lady Owls held off C of I.

Sprague finished 7-of-12 from the field, including two 3's, adding five assists and three rebounds. It marked her fourth-straight game with 20-or-more points, with the 29 points equaling a career high.

Maddyson Tull scored 14 points with seven rebounds, Kennedy Tull added 11, with Jenna Wallace tying a season-high with eight points.  Tech made 52-percent of their field goals, including an impressive 16-of-24 shooting after the break.

Mia Austin scored a career-high 20 points for the Yotes, who dropped their third-straight.  OIT held the hosts to 3-of-16 shooting from 3-point range in the second half and limited C of I to 38-percent shooting overall on the evening.

OIT returns home next Saturday to start a 3-game homestand, beginning with a 5:30 p.m. start against Southern Oregon.
