Elmore Hits Six 3's, Tech Blows Past Northwest, 102-67

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Jay Elmore drained a season-high six 3-pointers, part of an 18-point night, as Oregon Tech knocked Northwest University out of first place in dominating fashion, rolling to a 102-67 victory at Danny Miles Court.

The Hustlin' Owls (4-6, 1-3 CCC) ended a 3-game losing streak – hitting 60-percent of their field goals – as four players scored in double-figures.

"I think we turned a corner tonight," said OIT head coach Justin Parnell. "Defensively, we took a huge step forward, holding a great offensive team to 29 second half points. Offensively, we moved the ball – it's been awhile since we've had 24 assists."

Drew Bryson scored 15 of his 18 points in the first half for the Eagles (6-4, 3-1) – converting a lay-up four minutes into the game to give NU an 8-2 lead. The visitors led 19-13 before Tech caught fire – as consecutive triples from Jamison Guerra and Elmore started a 25-5 run that included two huge Joey Potts dunks – helping OIT take a 51-39 lead to the break.

NU cut the gap to 52-43 on a Joose Lee runner, but Elmore answered, connecting on back-to-back 3-balls, starting a 17-3 run that put the game away. The OIT lead would grow to 38 points late in the contest.

Elmore finished 6-of-9 from 3-point range, as the Hustlin' Owls made 12-of-24 3's on the night.

Erik Fraser scored 15 points with five rebounds and six assists; Kam Osborn had 13 points and four assists; Blake Jensen scored a career-high 10 points; with Kaison Faust scoring four points with four assists, adding a season-high nine boards.  Tech held a 41-31 rebound edge, while holding NU to 33-percent shooting in the second half.

OIT closes out the weekend tomorrow, hosting Evergreen State at 5 p.m.
